Quadrants display in Astrometrics
The Beta Quadrant is one of the four quadrants of the galaxy, and a large part of the United Federation of Planets is located in that quadrant. Other powers such as the Romulans and the Klingons are located in the Beta Quadrant. Usually, for simplicity's sake, when a Federation member is speaking he or she will say 'the Alpha Quadrant' rather than referring to both quadrants.
