Homeworld: Alpha Centauri
Federation Member: Yes
Origin: Alpha Quadrant

Humanoids from Alpha Centauri are so genetically close to humans as to be distinguishable only by scans at the tissue/cell/sub-cell level, where certain neural pathways and mitochondrial metabolic processes work 'a little differently.' This genetic closeness is widely considered to be the direct result and best evidence of ancient 'seeding' or other interference with humanoid life in the Alpha Quadrant by some mysterious precursor race. Centaurans are, as a stereotypical rule, more pacifistic and philosophical than Terrans, equally valuing science and aesthetics, and are widely considered to have been the 'bridge' between human and Vulcan which allowed both races to come together to found the Federation. The Centaurans therefore wield a great deal of quiet, behind-the-scenes influence, as one of the bedrock foundations of the UFP.
