Constitution-class
From Star Trek: Gamma One
The Constitution-class starship was first put into production and became the primary ship-of-the-line during the mid-23rd century. They were among the first Federation starships that could sustain long-term missions without refit and resupply. During its time, it was not only well-suited for scientific and exploratory missions, but it was also well-armed.
The class underwent at least one major overhaul some time between 2254 and 2266, which required the refitted vessels to basically have a new ship constructed over the original space frame. Further upgrades included a number of interior modifications, particularly to the bridge and control systems, as technology advanced. These overhauls contributed to its lengthy tour of service. The last Constitution-class vessel was decommissioned in 2376.
