Federation Diplomatic Corps

The FDC is a civilian, civil agency that handles diplomatic matters for the United Federation of Planets. They maintain loose ties with the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps, as the latter is often the actor in First Contact situations.
In 2377, the FDC played a pivotal role in securing a reduced sentence for LTJG Ssten who had been sentenced to life in prison. At the behest of the FDC, his sentence was reduced to permanent exile.
