Getting Started
To create a character page, you will need an approved character first. You will also need to create a login for this wiki website. If you haven't created a login yet, then click on the register link in the upper right corner.
Character Images
You are not required to have an image to create a character page. There is a default 'Personnel Image not on Record' for character pages, if you do not have a cast image. If you have no image, then you can skip this step.
When creating or selecting a cast image, please follow these guidelines:
- We prefer to have a photo-manipulated image showing your actor in a late DS9/First Contact/Nemesis/Insurrection style uniform.
- If you can not get a photo-manipulated image, you can use a head shot of your actor. Please do not use a full body image, only a head shot. Please also do not use an image where there is 'dated' items in the background. IE, your actor is standing in front of a famous coffee chain, or in front of a billboard. Instead select an image with a relatively neutral background.
- Your image must be between 150-250 pixels wide with 200 pixels being the ideal size. Moderators will periodically check character pictures and remove those that are not the correct size.
Once you have selected your image, rename the file to <surname>.<ext>. For example, if the character is named Michael Mitellan and the original image is isaacs.jpg, I would rename it to mitellan.jpg. Once done click on the 'Upload File' link on the left side of the wiki, and upload your image. Note the 'exact' name it uploads as. Capital and lowercase letters are important. IE, mitellan.jpg is different than Mitellan.jpg.
Adding your Character Page to the Crew List
Once you have your image ready, you will need to look at the 'People' section on the Main Page. There is a link to the Outpost Gamma One crew there, click on it and you will come to the index for the crew. Edit the page and locate the spot where your character belongs. The list is sorted first by Department (already listed out), then by billet (see the +roster in game), then by rank. Note that rank only applies when two or more characters hold the same job (i.e. There is more than one 'Platoon Leader' in the Bajoran Militia. If one character was a 2LT while the other was a 1LT, the Ensign's character would belong ahead of the Cadet's). Bajorans are grouped by rank and billet in the same fashion below the Starfleet Officers, and then any non-Starfleet characters are listed at the bottom by their roster as well. In the spot where your character should go, insert the following:

IMPORTANT Please visit the Character Index Template page to get the correct rank color and rank values. Using anything else will not work.

Further, please make sure that there is a line above and below your entry which looks like '|-'. For example, see below.

Once added, write in the summary field something like 'Added Mitellan to crew list.' and Preview the page. Make sure things like correct in the preview, and if so, save the page.
Creating the Character Page Part I: Basic Info
Once your character is in the crew list, click on his or her name. You will be brought to an editing window. Please add all the sections mentioned below, even if your character doesn't have relevant entries. Start by pasting the information below into the edit box:

The next section is the dossier. This is a single paragraph executive summary of the character.

Creating the Character Page Part III: Service Record
The next portion of your character page is your service record. Please keep in mind that the character pages are consider In Character. Thus if you have classified entries, we recommend you do not put them on this page. The following is an example of creating service record entries:

Creating the Character Page Part IV: Decorations
The next section contains decorations the character has received. If the character has no medals, please add this section and leave a few blank lines after the header. To create this section add a few blank lines, then do:

Creating the Character Page Part V: Commendations and Reprimands
This section references any commendations or reprimands your character has received. If your character has not received any, please place the header and add a few blank lines before the next section.

Creating the Character Page Part VI: Missions and Incidents
This portion is to track all the episodes your character has been in. Please add this section even if your character has yet to appear in an episode. First add:

Creating the Character Page Part VII: Player Logs
Sometimes characters will be in scenes that are not recorded by camera and posted under the Player Logs section of the Wiki. This code will automatically add details to your character pages about these scenes you are in. For more information, see the Player Logs page and files on the game.

Note the only thing that needs to be changed is the linksto. And make sure it matches the name of your character page. As an example:

Creating the Character Page Part VIII: Personal Logs
You have the option of taking personal logs you create in game and adding a link to them on the wiki. However, at the current time we'll just use one wiki page per character's personal logs, so the way to link it would be like this:

Don't forget to create the personal log page once you're ready to add logs.
Creating the Character Page Part IX: References
The last section is the references section. This is a comma separated list of pages that are related to your character. For example, maybe your character did certain research or was part of a diplomatic event or so. You can list those there.

Finishing Touches
At the bottom please add
