Note: The below material was taken from the Star Trek: Gamma One 'news npcs' file. In the event of a content disagreement, the information in the 'news npcs' file will be considered the current and correct information.

The majority of NPCs on Star Trek: Gamma One are staff controlled or emitted. This means that players can not use these NPCs in RP in a 'named' fashion. IE, they can't pose an actual response by the NPC, or refer to actions by the NPC. See the below examples.

Some of the NPCs are, however, available to players to pose or emit. These NPCS are listed in the wiki and their listing includes rank, age, sex, race, personality, interests and such. When emitting one of these NPCs, the player must follow the information in the NPC database and not make up new information. If an NPC is not listed in the database and flagged as player usable then players can not emit the NPC. The exception is emitting a 'nameless' NPC.

If a player wishes they can create an outline for a new NPC and +pitch it. Staff will review the NPC and if there are no problems (or minor ones which staff can correct) then the NPC will be approved and can be added to the wiki.

Examples of NPC poses and emits. For the sake of the examples, the player is 'Ensign John Doe'.

  1. Emitting a nameless NPC. Acceptable in all situations.
    • Ensign Doe finishes his discussion with the chief, and turns to the newly arrived Lieutenant.
    • After watching the other patrons for a few minutes, John turns back to the counter to flag down a server and place his order.
  2. Emitting a 'named' NPC. Acceptable only if the NPC is in the NPC database and marked as player usable.
    • Jane Doe grins to Ensign Doe and winks. "I'll grab your order in just a moment."
