Overview

The Imperial Klingon Military Academy serves as the primary training institution for officers of the Imperial Klingon Defense Force, in much the same role that Starfleet Academy serves Starfleet. It is possible for an officer to advance within a House Fleet without attending the IKMA, however senior command positions within house fleets, all officer's ranks in the Imperial Fleet, or service as an exchange or liaison officer are all restricted to IKMA graduates.

Curriculum

IKMA coursework displays the typical Klingon focus on combat skills, with all students receiving extensive combat and tactical training to supplement the basic house-level instruction they have been given. Much attention is also given to codes of honor, and the manner in which a Klingon officer should behave. In addition to this instruction, each student receives a small amount of specialized elective training, branching out into fields such as engineering, navigation, or medicine.
