General Information

The Nebula-class is an Exploratory Cruiser in use by Starfleet since the mid 24th century.

Known Ships of this Class

Refits

As the class has begun to age, the ships have started their refit schedules. Some of the Nebula-class vessels have been refit with the Large Scale Engineering module which gives the vessel the ability to handle large engineering projects in space. Of note, the Large Scale Engineering refit was used with the USS Vanguard to prepare it for the Outpost Gamma One construction.

Notes: This is the 2375 Refit. The Large Scale Engineering Variant has a dorsal pod loaded with extra shuttle and cargo bay space, an auxiliary impulse engine, redundant phaser arrays, and multiple extra tractor arrays. It can separate from the main hull and when separated both the ship and the pod have Type X (x2) Phaser Arrays for Penetration 4/4/4/0/0. The Pod can use its less powerful impulse engine for sublight maneuverability. The LSE variant also has more powerful SIF and life support systems for 'spreading' over a nearby ship or spaceframe hull during repairs or construction if necessary. It is less powerful than a refit Nebula constructed with the Tactical Systems Pod, but retains the more powerful torpedo tubes that allow it to launch Tricobalt devices.
