In the case of any discrepancy between the news files on the game and those here on the wiki, the news files on the game are correct version.
Casual clothing in the 24th century is far different from the casual clothing of today. Things like denim, plain t-shirts, t-shirts with logos or sayings on them, lace up sneakers, docs (or variations of such) and so on aren't seen anymore.
Clothing tends, using DS9 as an example, tends to involve cotton or cotton like textiles. The clothing is often brightly coloured and often with patches or panels around it. Women still wear dresses and skirts if they desire. Vests are common for the men.
In general we ask you try and give your clothing a futuristic look and that you avoid current looks or trends.
