News Files:Ethics
From Star Trek: Gamma One
In the case of any discrepancy between the news files on the game and those here on the wiki, the news files on the game are correct version.
Player Ethics
Players who spam or harass other players shall be warned, and if the problem persists, @booted. If, after an @boot, the player logs back in and continues with the harassment, then the players is to be @newpassworded and @booted. Staff will consult the player and determine if he/she is fit to return to the game.
Players must follow outlined policies. Failure to do so can result in IC punishment, OOC warnings, OOC strikes and @booting and/or banning.
Admin Ethics
The Admin of Star Trek: Gamma One are expected to make ethical and unbiased decisions at all times. They must make their decisions with a clear head and an open mind. Further they are expected to treat the players with respect. In all situations they should be professional in their actions.
The DARK flag is easily abused. It will hide a Wizard from the WHO list and from a look command in a room. However, should the player use @sweep, the wizard will be visible. Wizards should refrain from using DARK unless absolutely required, or unless in a non-public room.
Admin shall never teleport into a populated private room without warning. If there are players in the room, all of them must be notified prior to teleporting in. Teleporting into a room without warning can result in interrupting a private conversation or scene. Public rooms do not require the warning, as staff may need to perform maintenance or run plots.
Admin shall never teleport a player without warning him or her and obtaining permission. The only exception to this is when the teleportation is part of a discipline action.
One Admin power is the ability to 'see' anything on the game. Admins can get lists of every item on a game and can examine and see every bit of data on that item. That being said, they are not allowed to share private information.
Admin will not do any of the following:
- Give out emails or IP information on players
- Take private code
- Take information stored in attributes
- Share stats or biography information on a player
An Admin will only modify items, descriptions or code that is either game code or public areas. This includes global code, room descriptions, NPC characters, and public areas. This does not include character descriptions or character information.
Admin will not staff while under the influence. If they don't have a clear mind, they are not to be online and staffing. Further, as Admin it is your responsibility to log off if you realize you are not in the right state of mind to be staffing.
