News Files:NPC Rules

These rules apply specifically to emitting NPCs from the NPC Database.

  1. Under no circumstances can you use an NPC to insult, taunt or otherwise cause problems for other PCs. Use of an NPC to harass another PC will result in a +strike and loss of privileges to emit NPCs.
  2. You must follow the information for the NPC that is in the NPC database. You can not change their name, rank, position, personality or description.
  3. NPC emitting should be used as little as possible. It is there to help players enhance a scene or set a scene. NPCs emitted by players should never be the focus of a scene.
  4. If an NPC is not in the NPC Database and not marked as 'Player OK' then you can not emit the NPC. The only exception is using nameless and voiceless NPCs. For example, the following, emitted by the player of ENS Doe, is acceptable:
    > Ensign Doe enters main engineering speaking with another ensign in a gold uniform. A few steps into the room Doe finishes whatever he was saying and he continues on to the Master Systems Display while the other ensign moves off towards the Core.

In this example the nameless NPC has no name and has no voice. When doing poses like this, use common sense. You can not, for example, pose a nameless Captain or Lieutenant Commander.
