News Files:Reports
From Star Trek: Gamma One
In the case of any discrepancy between the news files on the game and those here on the wiki, the news files on the game are correct version.
Star Trek: Gamma One uses +reports for tracking IC tasks, mission planning and followup, requests and so on. There are a few rules for using it.
- Try to roleplay first. Rather than make a long, details entry in a report, attempt to roleplay and cover the assignment that way, and then make a short entry in the +report. +reports are not designed to replace roleplay, but rather to assist roleplay.
- It is an IC tool. While there is an OOC +dept, only staff should post a job in there.
- Commentary should be professional. These are in character reports that you are working on. Unprofessional language or commentary will result in In Character consequences.
- The commands for restricting access on reports should only be use when absolutely required. They are in place to assist players when there are reports containing confidential information. Make sure you read '+sop reports' for the IC rules about locking reports.
WARNING: If you excessively lock or restrict reports, or fail to follow the IC guidelines, then you may be subject to IC or OOC sanctions. Please keep in mind that when a report is restricted, it is cutting others out of roleplay. In some cases that is required. When its not, locking reports will not be tolerated.
Each +report has an in-character 'reference number' that goes with it. This number is <Numeric registry number of the vessel that the officer opening the report is assigned to>-<Stardate that the +report was opened on, truncating any decimals>-<+report number in the +report system>.
If a report was opened by a Vanguard officer on Stardate 55525.8 and is currently Report 76, it would be referred to as 61966-55525-76.
For reference, the numeric registry of Vanguard is 61966 and the numeric registry of Marathon is 68208.
