The Chief of Interplanetary Affairs is a flag officer holding the rank of Admiral. Three divisions report directly to this officer, including the First Contact Division, the Office of Colonial Affairs, and the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps. The Office of the Chief of Interplanetary Affairs is located at Starfleet Headquarters in San Francisco on Earth.
