From Star Trek: Gamma One
The Romulan Star Empire is a major power in the Beta Quadrant and a former member of the Federation alliance against the Dominion. Late in 2380, the RSE withdrew from the Alliance and announced its intention to conquer the Gamma Quadrant, putting it directly at odds with the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Romulan culture is driven by the principles of D'era, the philosphy by which all Romulans live their lives, and one often mistaken by others as a simple lack of honor. The military branch of the Empire is the Romulan Star Navy.
(There are currently no Romulans of the Empire aboard Outpost Gamma One; however, Romulan characters are welcome. Players wishing to play a Romulan should see SS Falstaff.)
