Sensors
From Star Trek: Gamma One
Sensors provide valuable medical, engineering, scientific and defensive information to ships and stations. Specialized sensors are grouped together into arrays.
Long Range Sensors: These sensors scan long distances, reaching up to 17 lightyears from the array, and scan out in a 45 degree arc. High resolution scans can be performed up to 5 light years away. They scan for EM emissions, graviton particles, neutrino tracks, and thermal images.
Lateral or Short Range Sensors: These provide more detailed information about nearby objects and phenomena. They can scan items and areas up to 1 light year away.
Navigational Sensors: These sensors are linked directly to the Conn station of a starship and monitor position and velocity.
Tactical Sensors: These sensors allow for targeting locks in the heat of battle.
