Starfleet Diplomatic Corps

Starfleet, as a matter of course, often comes into situations where it must make First Contact with other cultures, as well as engaging in diplomatic matters with both Federation cultures and otherwise. Members of the SDC are uniformed command officers trained to handle these situations, and are often assigned to exploratory vessels to advise the commanding officers of such in diplomatic situations.

SDC, which keeps its headquarters in Paris on Earth, keeps ties with the Federation Diplomatic Corps as the uniformed and civilian services can often overlap in their areas of responsibility.
