Tellarites are squat, stocky, porcine humanoids who come from the planet Tellar or one of its colonies, the most popular simply being called 'New Tellar'. Their bodies are more massive than humans, with a lower center of gravity, and they tend to have piggish snout-like noses, smallish eyes, and lots of hair on their head. Tellarites are often considered surly and argumentative -- this is actually the result of a social evolution which prizes bluster and rhetoric and debate as artforms. Tellarites are natural builders and tinkerers, gravitating towards technology either as engineers or theorician-scientists, where their love of bluster and argument serves them well, but can often infuriate peers and superiors.
